| Cattle Feeds |
| Cattle & Buffalo population in
India is 36.7 Crores. Their feed requirement is 40 Crore tonnes
per year, based on 3 Kgs per day. Most of this is met by
agro-residues and oil cakes which are always in short supply. For
example in South India, the availability of Oil Cakes will be
only 59.8 lakhs tons by 2001-2002 as against the demand for
738.58 lakh tons.

The poultry industry
in India has grown enormously in the last 10 years. Following

As
per CLFMA, (Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association of
India),
the production of Poultry Feeds in India has grown from less
than 50,000 tons in 1964 to about 60 lakhs tons at present - a
rise of 120 times in 36 years.
Considering
the potential that Full-Fat Soya can be included at 10% levels
in Broilers & Parent birds and 5% levels in Layers, the
total potential demand in India is about 18 lakh tons per year. |

| Shrimp Feeds |
Despite Supreme Court’s Verdict on Brackish – Water
Pollution, the highly lucrative Shrimp industry is growing year
after year in India. Following are the figures of shrimp

| Soya Industry |
In India, around 52
lakh tons of Soyabean is raised every year, out of which 6 lakh
tons go for seed purposes. The balance of 46 lakh tons are
crushed to produce 37 lakh tons of Soya Extractions and 9 lakh
tons of Soya Oil. Out of 37 lakh tons of Soya extractions, the
demand from Bakeries and Human Grade Soya Flour is in the region
of 50,000 tons. Another 50,000 tons go for Shrimp feeds. Cattle feed consumes around
4 lakh tons and Poultry feed takes 20 lakh tons. The balance of
12 lakh tons are exportable surplus, which are exported to the
neighbouring countries. |
